Product Description:

Historical romance readers can’t wait to learn The Truth about the Duke, Caroline Linden’s wonderful series about three English brothers on a quest to restore their family name, seek their fortunes, and find true love. The Way to a Duke’s Heart is the thrilling final chapter, as a charming, pleasure-seeking nobleman takes on the serious business of uncovering a blackmailer, and enlists the help of a beautiful, no-nonsense businesswoman who, against her better judgment, finds herself falling for the rake. A RITA Award-nominated author who, as Julia Quinn says, “touches every emotion,” Caroline Linden once again demonstrates why she is a true fan favorite, especially for those who adore the exciting romantic adventures of  Liz Carlyle and Elizabeth Boyle.

Charles de Lacey, owner of the title of Lord Gresham and heir to a dukedom, grows up understanding what is required of him and does his best to meet his father’s high expectations. When Charlie and the Duke don’t see eye to eye on matters of the heart, however, Charlie vows to leave and never return… and holds to that promise, spending years away from his family and home.

Tessa Neville, widow, has no interest whatsoever in marrying again. She enjoys her roles as aunt to her nieces and nephews and advisor to her brother, the head of their family. Tessa and Charlie’s paths collide when Tessa is engaged in the unusual position of investigating a potential investment for her wealthy brother. It turns out that Tessa and Charlie have something in common indeed, someone in common – a Mr. Hiram Scott. Tessa is to meet with Mr. Scott regarding her brother’s business, but Mr. Scott holds a much different interest for Charlie. Charlie is investigating a matter that could have devastating consequences for his entire family….but it’s Tessa who is occupying his thoughts.

Charlie is foremost in Tessa’s thoughts as well, and she’s unable to ignore the increasing attraction she feels for the rakish earl. Charlie’s focus may have wavered, but he rededicates himself to finding the truth about his father’s darkest secret, and enlists the capable Tessa to aid in his efforts. The persistent duo soon find out more than either had bargained for, presenting not only solutions but even more obstacles to overcome.

Old secrets are brought to light, and Charlie realizes that his past suppositions were woefully off base. His idea of “love” has changed greatly, and he is eager to share that newfound knowledge with Tessa. But will Tessa fall easily in line with Charlie’s plans for the future? She has a mind of her own, and Charlie knows it. He’s a persuasive man, but it will take more than sweet talk and kisses to convince Tessa that she’s meant to be at his side!

The Way to a Duke’s Heart is the third in Caroline Linden’s “The Truth About the Duke” series, capping off the story of the de Lacey brothers. Charlie’s journey from entitled scoundrel to resolute and responsible Duke is believable, and his missteps along the way only make him more endearing. Tessa’s role in Charlie’s redemption is well thought and well played, a strong and intelligent woman who clearly understands her position in society but is not willing to kowtow. Linden successfully weaves a poignant and compelling backstory with blackmail, secrecy and scandal, bringing the storylines all to a boiling point that simmers all the way to its finish.
