Product Description:

The beloved author of the Mystic Creek series gifts readers with a novel of homespun holiday cheer, as two families discover the joy of hope and redemption....

Widow Maddie McLendon has uprooted her life to move to Rustlers Gulch with her son and grandson. But as a brutal Montana winter looms on the horizon, contractors have yet to break ground on their new house, leaving them to live in a makeshift camp of trailers, tents, and sheds....

Since his wife died six years ago, millionaire rancher Sam Conacher has been content to wallow in his grief alone while keeping a tight rein on his twenty-six-year-old daughter. But now the girl has gone and fallen in love with his foolish new neighbor’s no-good son....

Maddie and Sam will never see eye to eye on anything, until a near-tragedy gives them a true glimpse into each other’s souls. And as the first snowflakes begin to fall, they’ll discover that an open heart is the biggest gift of all....

Life has been a series of challenges for the McLendon family – death, illness and relocation have all been factors in their latest situation. Cameron, his son, Caleb and Cam’s mother, Maggie are all living in a cluster of somewhat improvised housing in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana, waiting till their new house is built. In the meantime, Cam is working as a realtor specializing in selling agricultural land while Maggie resumes her job as a writer. Despite their temporary housing situation, the family is fairly well settled into a new routine, and things are going along as well as can be expected.

Cam has raised Caleb as a single parent, and dating has been far from his mind for many years – that is until he meets Kirstin Conacher. Sparks may fly, but a full-fledged inferno may occur when Kirstin’s irascible father, rancher Sam Conacher, gets wind of his daughter’s romance with the neighbor that Sam considers a step or two below “white trash.” Sam has no clue what he’s getting into when he takes on his daughter, nor does he expect to come to care about the entire McLendon family.

From Cam and Kirstin to Sam, Maggie and even Caleb, each of them has some pretty serious emotional baggage – but it’s the secrets that they are all keeping from one another that could be their downfall. Neighbors or not, Sam is not willing to accept that his daughter wants a life of her own, and Maggie? Well, she’s keeping devastating news to herself, news that could pull the rug out from under her family’s dreams altogether.

The Christmas Room may sound like a Christmas themed romance, but it truly is not. It’s a year-round romance with a happy Christmas ending, and it’s terrific. Author Catherine Anderson takes the time to develop each of the main characters into a living, breathing person with real emotions, and the realism of their situations, dialogue and personalities give the story depth and heart. Sam is easy to hate, but turns out being just as easy to love as his journey from lonely widower to family man progresses, but this is Cam and Kirstin’s story, and their evolution from new neighbors to newlyweds is nothing short of delightful. Charming and poignant, The Christmas Room will tug on your heartstrings indeed, but it’s the warmth of the story that will stay with you long after the last page is turned.

Maddie McLendon's son Cam has always dreamed of being a rancher in Montana and now his dreams are coming true. Two years after the death of his father, Cam persuades his mom to move with him and his sixteen-year-old son, Caleb to a large piece of property he bought in Rustler's Gulch. They live in makeshift quarters along with their menagerie of dogs, cats, and horses until they can build their home.

Widowed next-door neighbor, Sam Conacher isn't pleased to have new neighbors, especially when he spots his daughter, Kirsten kissing Cam. Kirsten is Sam's main focus since losing his wife who is embittered by her passing, turning others against him. His goal is to smear the McLendons' name and keep Cam away from Kirsten. He cannot lose his precious daughter, though she is falling in love with Cam, and will not stand for his interference any longer.

Kirsten and Cam are roping in cattle when a bull charges her. Cam, sensing danger is distracted and causes serious injuries to himself. Sam rides in on time witnessing Cam protecting Kirsten which changes his opinion of Cam.

Sam invites the McLendon's to stay in his home while Cam recuperates. He and Maddie come to terms with their prickly relationship and find a closeness they never thought possible. Maddie pulls no punches with Sam about his behavior, and he realizes he needs to make amends.

Before long, Sam's house is full of energy and happiness. Sam comes out of his cynical shell learning to love again and accept Kirsten's feelings for Cam. The Christmas Room is a heartwarming story of redemption and togetherness.
