Product Description:

In the latest Library Lover’s Mystery from the New York Times bestselling author of Better Late Than Never, the library’s big fund-raiser leaves director Lindsey Norris booked for trouble . . .

Lindsey Norris and her staff are gearing up for the Briar Creek Library’s annual Dinner in the Stacks fund-raiser. The night of dinner and dancing is not only a booklover’s dream—it’s the library’s biggest moneymaker of the year. But instead of raising funds, the new library board president is busy raising a stink and making the staff miserable.

Although Olive Boyle acts like a storybook villain, Lindsey is determined to work with her and make the event a success. But when Olive publicly threatens the library’s newest hire, Paula, Lindsey cracks like an old book spine and throws Olive out of the library.

The night of the fund-raiser, Lindsey dreads another altercation with Olive—but instead finds Paula crouched over Olive’s dead body. Paula may have secrets, but Lindsey and the rest of the crafternooners know she’s not the one who took Olive out of circulation. As the plot thickens, Lindsey must catch the real killer before the book closes on Paula’s future . . .

After meeting Olive Boyle, Briar Creek Library Director Lindsey Norris is positive that OZ must be missing a wicked witch. Lindsey hoped to have a good working relationship with Olive, the new president of the Briar Creek Library Board, but Olive for some inexplicable reason seems determined to have Lindsey removed from her job as Director. Not only is Olive targeting Lindsey, she is doing her best to make the professional lives of Lindsey’s staff at the library miserable as well, but that is where Lindsey draws the line. When Olive’s dead body turns up dead in the library on the night of the big annual fundraiser, it is easy to see why some people might think Lindsey or one of her staff had something to do with it.  So, of course, Lindsey has no choice now but to once again put on her amateur sleuthing cap and find the real killer.

Death in the Stacks, the latest in McKinlay’s Library Lover’s series, is another entertaining, marvelously funny mix of comedy and crime. As an added bonus, long time fans of McKinlay’s other mysteries will love the delightful cameo appearances from characters in her Hat Shop and Cupcake Bakery books in her latest cleverly crafted tale. McKinlay’s smartly written books are the literary equivalent of catnip for cozy mystery readers.

Lindsey Norris loved her job as librarian at Briar Creek Library. She looked forward to their largest fundraiser, Dinner in the Stacks. The only negative was Olive Boyle, the new president of the library board, who was determined to make Lindsey’s life miserable.

The dinner unfortunately ended with Olive’s murder. Lindsey reluctantly decided to investigate the murder when one of her workers was the prime suspect. Using the guise of a memorial to Olive, she arranged a meeting at the library of all the people Lindsey thought could help with her investigation, including several suspects.

There were a number of suspects. Olive was not well liked so there were a lot of people who had a motive to kill her. Figuring it out could also put more people in danger, including Lindsey and those she loved.

Jenn McKinlay spins a wonderful mystery with a lot of lovable characters and some not so. The twists and turns will have you guessing until the very end.
