Product Description:
Amanda Jaffe, the heroine of Wild Justice and Proof Positive, is backāin this twisting tale of international intrigue and murder that leads her deep into the past . . . and into the crosshairs of a killer. Charlie Marsh, a petty thief and con man, becomes a national hero when he rescues the warden of a state penitentiary during a prison riot, but it doesn't take long before he is wanted again, suspected of killing a United States congressman. After twelve years of living in the African nation of Batanga, at the mercy of Jean-Claude Baptiste, a sadistic, power-mad dictator, Charlie flees for home to face his murder charge, when Baptiste learns about Charlie's affair with the tyrant's favorite wife. But it's not just the state of Oregon that's got it in for the philandering con. Criminal lawyer Amanda Jaffe has her work cut out for her. She must keep Charlie off death row, protect him from the head of Baptiste's deadly secret police, and prevent him from being caught by a shadowy killer who will stop at nothing to keep the truth about a decade-old crime buried forever.

Con man Charlie Marsh is living in Batanga, which has no extradition treaty with the USA. He decides to return to stand trial for murder because the mad dictator of Batanga has discovered Charlie was having an affair with his fourth wife. Charlie arrives in New York, but the trial will take place in Oregon. Amanda Jaffe has her hands full defending Charlie and managing a journalist embedded in the trial, Dennis Levy from World News. Dennis had flown to Batanga with the money to get Charlie out, and his payback is exclusive coverage of Charlie’s life story and his trial.
Charlie had escaped to Africa before he could be tried. Now Amanda Jaffe was to mount Charlie’s defense. Can she keep Dennis Levy muzzled? Can she throw enough doubt on the state’s case to get an acquittal?
FUGITIVE is Phillip Margolin’s thriller—an action adventure followed by a legal thriller. Margolin relies on his extensive background as a defense attorney to craft a riveting plot, full of surprises and twists, to a satisfactory conclusion. This book should appeal to readers of both action thrillers and legal thrillers. Don’t miss this one!

Customer Reviews
Plodding along: (2010-07-03)
Author seems to be writing for his own entertainment...another slow mover. If you are looking for suspenseful action look elsewhere
Good Read: (2010-02-02)
A good read that'll keep you guessing until the end. However, at times, it can get a bit convoluted trying to keep all the characters straight, which is what kept it from being a five-star novel.
