Product Description:

In this novel in the New York Times bestselling Bibliophile Mystery series, book-restoration expert Brooklyn Wainwright visits California Wine Country where she uncovers murder and intrigue...

While Brooklyn has temporarily relocated to her parents’ place in Sonoma, she attends an excavation of the caves hidden deep under their commune. A room is unearthed, revealing artwork, rare books, cases of wine, a chest of jewelry...and a perfectly mummified body. A closer examination of the murdered man’s possessions reveals a valuable first edition of Jules Verne’s A Journey to the Center of the Earth containing a secret treasure map.

Word of the explosive find draws in reporters, art appraisers, and questions.  After a new presence threatens the town’s peace, it’s clear that not all crime is buried in the past. So Brooklyn decides to do a little excavating of her own and solve the mystery of the treasure before anyone else is written off...

Book-restoration expert Brooklyn Wainwright and her boyfriend, security expert Derek Stone, are looking forward to a few weeks of relaxation in wine country. Their apartment in the city is being remodeled, so they've taken the opportunity to stay in Dharma, Brooklyn's home and a commune that features a winery, fine dining, and quaint shops. They're planning to help with the winery's establishment of a wine tasting cave. There's no way Brooklyn could stumble across another body there, right?

Wrong! When the excavation team finds a cave filled with treasures, Brooklyn spots a long-dead body, mummified from the conditions in the cave. They quickly discover that the man has been dead for 70 years. Even though he was clearly murdered, this isn't one for Brooklyn to solve. (Though she does solve it anyway.) This time, it seems like all will be well, if a bit confusing. But all that changes when a townsperson is murdered and it appears that someone has been pilfering items from the cave. And poor Brooklyn finds the body yet again.

The latest installment of this well-built series holds multiple mysteries, though it's possible that they're all intertwined. The cast of eccentric Dhama characters makes the book delightfully entertaining, and you'll wish more books were set in the little town instead of the city. The novel even includes a brief history lesson. It's a fast, twisty read with outcomes that will surprise even the most seasoned of cozy readers. Highly recommended!
