Product Description:
HE'LL PLAY BY HER RULES UNTIL SHE FALLS FOR HIM...HOOK, LINE, AND SINKER.
When an anonymous letter stuns shipping magnate and confirmed bachelor Ben Sinclair with the news that he has a teenage son, he's determined to make good on the past. But Emma Sands doesn't trust him. The beautiful, fiery blonde has raised her nephew in the peaceful woods of Maine since he was five, and just because fifteen-year-old Michael is the spitting image of his tall, handsome father doesn't give Ben the right to march in and change their lives forever. Or so she thinks, until his return mysteriously unearths a dangerous small-town secret. With Michael's help, Ben will do whatever it takes to prove to fiercely independent Emma that he can be the fearless protector she never knew she wanted...and the passionate lover she always thought she could resist.

The Sinclair Brothers ~ Book Two ~ Benjamin’s Story
Sixteen years ago Benjamin Sinclair went to Medicine Gore, Maine to protest the building of a hydroelectric dam. While there he dated Kelly Sands, and when it was time for him to leave he asked her to go to New York with him, but she more or less told him to get lost. During one of the protests the dam was blown up and Kelly’s father was killed. The townspeople blamed the protest group, citing Ben as the ringleader.
Ben gets an anonymous letter telling him he has a fifteen-year-old son named Michael who lives in Medicine Gore. Ben hires a private investigator to find out if this is true, and learns that it is. Also, Kelly disappeared ten years ago and her younger sister, Emma, has raised Michael. The two of them own and run Medicine Creek Camps, a hunting/sports lodge. Ben books a reservation under the name of Tom Jenkins and with a beard and longer hair doesn’t think anyone will recognize him. Wrong! Both Emma and Michael know exactly who he is, but keep quiet about it. Ben’s clothes are brand new and from LL Bean, and it is obvious he is no hunter. Ben is met by a welcoming party of loggers who believe him to be a tree hugger, and they beat the stuffing out of him. Emma rescues Ben and gets him medical attention, then proceeds to take care of him. She knows that Michael needs a male presence in his life, but dang she doesn’t want to give the child of her heart up. Matter of fact Emma is angry that Ben just walked away and she, wrongly, assumed Kelly didn’t know how to get in touch with him. Emma had a huge crush on Ben, but she thinks she is over that now. Ha-ha-ha!
During his recovery period Ben learns a lot about Emma. She was only nineteen when she became responsible for her nephew, and she had plans to go to college and get away from her home town. Emma has done an excellent job with Michael, and he is a wonderful, well-grounded young man – he is also a genius and will finish high school at fifteen and enter college next fall. Ben admires Emma for so many things, and that admiration turns into a sizzling desire for her.
TEMPT ME IF YOU CAN is Janet Chapman at her very best. The characters are likeable and believable, and the villain is truly vile. Along with Michael, there is a love-sick moose and a guard dog that help steal the story. It as been a long two-year wait for Benjamin’s story, but it is truly one of the best romance stories – with a hint of mystery – you'll read this year.

Please! (spoiler alert...don't read further if you haven't read the book): (2010-05-29)
I have enjoyed Ms. Chapman's work. I own all her books and have read them all, but this one?! A great premise, very likable characters, but the ending?? A killer moose? Really? An animal on the evolutionary ladder with cows and other bovines, but Ms. Chapman had to fall into an anthropomorphic frenzy and have this moose fall in love with the heroine and kill the bad guy? Well, I may forgive one miss, so I still consider myself a fan of Ms. Chapman's work, but I gotta ask one question: where were the members of her editorial committee when she was writing the ending of this book?
Tempt Me If You Can: (2010-05-14)
Ben Sinclair just found out that he has a son, so he's heading to Medicine Gore, Maine to meet him. Emma Sands has been raising her nephew Michael by herself since her sister, Michael's mother, disappeared ten years ago. Michael is fifteen now and becoming a fine young man, but Emma knows he could use a father's guidance as well. As if meeting his son and seeing Emma again after he left town fifteen years ago isn't enough of a shock, Ben learns that the town thinks he's responsible for Emma's father's death. Ben has a lot to prove to his son and to Emma, but someone wants him gone and they'll stop at nothing to keep him from finding out the truth. Ben has his work cut out for him in Tempt Me if You Can. Not only does he have to win his son over, but Emma, too, and then he has the whole town to face. My heart broke for Emma, though as she faced the possibility of losing Michael and an unknown future for them both. What she has to do and what she wants to do are two different things. Her emotions are tangible. Along with a cast of colorful characters, Tempt Me if You Can has many furry friends who enlighten the story as much as the people do. After the excitement is over, Ben and Emma have a fun and fitting wedding. Tempt Me if You Can is a passionate and emotional love story. Nannette Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed
a lost love, a new love and a murder: (2010-03-31)
Tempt Me if You Can by Janet Chapman is a continuation to the series, this one revolves around Emma, Ben and Mike. The plot was entertaining and unique, the characters were well developed and interesting and the book as a whole was a page turner. Emma Sands has taken care of her nephew Mike since he was born, but when he was 5yrs old his mother left leaving a young Emma to raise him all by herself. Now 10 years later the two have become closer then ever and run a hunting/cabin business in a small town. Benjamin Sinclair is heir to a shipping business, when one day he gets a letter telling him he has a son he know it's true. The first thing he does is get on a plan to go meet his son, but the last time he was in the small town the people thought he was responsible for a bombing that killed a man. What the two never expected to happen was to fall in love, and then have to figure out who has been using the woods that surrounds the cabins and for what. It may just kill them both. A wonderful romance story with great writing and an interesting storyline. ash
Bridget's Review: (2010-03-31)
Ben discovers that he has a son whom he has never laid eyes on. He is a good man and wants to repay his once lover, Emma, for all that she has done for their child. Emma is hard headed and doesn't want Ben interrupting their life. When some secrets start to reveal themselves, Ben knows that it is his duty to protect his son and the mother of his child. Emma isn't too thrilled with the idea at first, but she soon learns that there are some things she can't do all on her own. I wouldn't say that this is one of my favorite books but it was definitely worth reading. I could really relate to Emma which made the book a lot of fun. I don't know how she kept Ben at bay for so long though. I think I have a crush on his character.
Just alright: (2010-03-31)
Ben Sinclair receives a letter that turns his world upside down. The letter is postmarked from Medicine Gore. It is unsigned. The contents of the letter inform Ben that he is the father of a fifteen year old boy named, Michael. Ben hires an investigator and discovers that the letter is true. He is a father. Ben fell in love with a girl named Kelly, who is Michael's mother. Kelly disappeared ten years ago, leaving Michael to be raised by his Aunt Emma. Ben returns to Medicine Gore but not under good circumstances. Emma remembers Ben and has her guard up about him. Ben may be Michael's father but Emma is the one that raised Michael and she won't let him go without a fight. Tempt Me If You Can did tempt me some. It is also book two of the Sinclair brothers' novels. I thought the chemistry shared between Ben and Emma was nice but I was wanting more passion between them. I did like how Ben and Michael bonded quickly. Ben really stepped up as a father figure for Michael. There was a good storyline that took place in this book besides just the romance with Emma and Ben. I don't want to give anything away but the ending had a nice twist to it.
