Product Description:

Grim Reaper Charley Davidson is back in the twelfth installment of Darynda Jones’ New York Times bestselling paranormal series, The Trouble with Twelfth Grave.

Ever since Reyes Farrow escaped from a hell dimension in which Charley Davidson accidentally trapped him, the son of Satan has been brimstone-bent on destroying the world his heavenly Brother created. His volatile tendencies have put Charley in a bit of a pickle. But that’s not the only briny vegetable on her plate. While trying to domesticate the feral being that used to be her husband, she also has to deal with her everyday life of annoying all manner of beings―some corporeal, some not so much―as she struggles to right the wrongs of society. Only this time she’s not uncovering a murder. This time she’s covering one up.

Add to that her new occupation of keeping a startup PI venture―the indomitable mystery-solving team of Amber Kowalski and Quentin Rutherford―out of trouble and dealing with the Vatican’s inquiries into her beloved daughter, and Charley is on the brink of throwing in the towel and becoming a professional shopper. Or possibly a live mannequin. But when someone starts attacking humans who are sensitive to the supernatural world, Charley knows it’s time to let loose her razor sharp claws. Then again, her number one suspect is the dark entity she’s loved for centuries. So the question becomes: Can she tame the unruly beast before it destroys everything she’s worked so hard to protect?

All is not well in Grim Reaper Charley Davidson’s world. Her husband, Reyes, has escaped from the hell in which Charley accidentally trapped him, and Charley can’t quite get through to the son of Satan and bring him back where he belongs – with her. And this problem isn’t the only thing troubling Charley: the safety of her infant daughter is very much at risk, and she’s got a case or two that are causing her more than her normal fair share of difficulty.

Charley is hot on the trail of helping to find the perpetrator of several gruesome murders, and she’s willing to put herself in all kinds of danger to get to the bottom of this case before anyone else loses their life. There are all kinds of distractions, however, from her day to day life at her detective agency to her neighbor and left-hand Cookie’s daughter wanting to start her own investigation firm – while she’s in high school. Charley always has time for Amber, but perhaps a bit more guidance may be in order.

In the meantime, Charley is hell bent on getting Reyes back by her side, and that effort is taking all of Charley’s mental, physical and psychic abilities and stretching them to the limit and beyond. She’s got friends who can help her in these efforts – where would she be without good old Garrett Swopes by her side? And there’s a host of other unworldly beings right there in the wings….but Charley knows that the only way to get Reyes back is to do it herself….or is it?

The Trouble with Twelfth Grave is, (yes, you guessed it!), the twelfth installment in author Darynda Jones’ Charley Davidson series, and Charley hasn’t slowed down one bit! The tangled web of good guys and bad guys and the introduction of some new information that underpins Charley’s place in the universe round out a story that may only take place over a few days but that spans, circles and suspends time. What’s next for Charley? There’s one heckuva cliffhanger, something that Darynda Jones does with the skill of a virtuoso, so we won’t truly know what Charley is up to until number 13 comes along. Oh, the irony! In the meantime, if you haven’t read this series, do go back and start with First Grave on the Right. This is an exceptional series, truly one not to be missed!
