Product Description:

“Enticing recipes at the back of the book and cooking tips sprinkled throughout…The crime is solved satisfactorily…[but] let’s be honest: most of us came for the food.” New York Times Book Review

Attorney Sophie Maxwell has come to Savannah to be with her new husband, Will. But nothing throws cold water on a hot relationship faster than a dead body. Worse for Sophie, no one believes the body she knows she saw is real. Will is spending an awful lot of time in Atlanta on a case he claims is urgent, and she’s been tasked with house hunting for them with his former sweetheart, who Sophie can’t help but suspect wishes Sophie would return to her Yankee roots!

Fortunately, Sophie has a good friend in Faith Fairchild. With teenage Amy being bullied by mean girls and husband Tom contemplating a major life change that will affect all the Fairchilds, Faith is eager for distraction in the form of some sleuthing. In between discussions of newlywed agita, surprising Savannah customs and, of course, fabulous low country food, Faith and Sophie will pair up to unmask a killer.

“Readers will enjoy this entry in which danger—and clues turn up in unexpected places.” —Publishers Weekly

Sophie Maxwell meets Will Maxwell during the summer while vacationing in Maine. Though they clash at first, they soon find love, and Sophie leaves her New England roots to marry Will. They now live in historic Savannah where Sophie becomes an associate in her father-in-law's legal practice. She worries if she'll fit in and faces some maliciousness from Will's step-sister, but brushes it off.

Will, a private investigator, goes to Atlanta on assignment and is away a lot, leaving Sophie alone. Will's step-mom is letting them stay at a house she owns and is renovating until they can find their own home. One night when Will is away Sophie opens the old wardrobe to hang up her clothes and is terrified when a dead body falls out at her feet. She rushes outside to call the police, but by the time they arrive and go through the house, the corpse is gone. Everyone considers Sophie delusional, but she knows what she saw. Her old friend and pastor's wife from Massachusetts, Faith Fairchild believes her and proves to be Sophie's only confidant.

Matters become worse when Will makes an appointment for Sophie to go house-hunting. The agent happens to be his old girlfriend, and the woman clearly demonstrates that she knows Will better than anyone.

While Sophie must contend with Will's jilted ex, fitting in with her new family, and trying to adjust, Faith is dealing with daughter Amy's bullying from her classmates. Thank goodness they can vent to each other.

Then Will goes missing, and Faith hops a plane to be with Sophie. Between the two, they discover unsettling details shedding light on some unexplained happenings.

The Body in the Wardrobe offers a delightful whodunit complete with anecdotes about Savannah's history as well as some mouth-watering recipes from the Lowcountry. This installment of the Faith Fairchild series oozes Southern charm with a heaping teaspoon of mystery.
